I like to slip videogame sfx into my songs sometimes. I played melee somewhat competitively before that scene became a total cess pool. Used Captain Falcon sfx for years before I started to branch out to characters like Yoshi, Luigi, and Pikachu. I'd have no problem taking those sound effects out of my music if I was slapped with a legal document but I've never been formally wrist slapped. No one's ever said "hey Quarl, stop."

Copyright laws are nuanced, a lot of artists skirt those laws. I've written extensively about the ethics of sampling, fair disclaimer, I'm not a lawyer:
